Home Learning is changing (again!)
As we are now planning activities for children who will be in school (some part-time, some full time) and also children who will be continuing to work from home, we have made some changes to the home learning schedule.
- The plan is now set into daily activities. If you are continuing to work from home then you do not need to follow the daily plan and can choose when you would like to complete the activities.
- If your child is in school on a part time basis, it is really important that they have worked on the phonics and maths sessions at home (especially if they are going to be in school on Thursday and Friday as they will need to already know what has been taught on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday).
Our amazing teaching team are working incredibly hard to balance their own family needs with being back in school and also supporting home learning. We will do our very best to support everyone during this challenging time which is all new to everyone. We are trying to ensure that no-one is disadvantaged by working from home, and will continue to contact families on a regular basis who we do not see at school.
As you may know, in school our FS2 children have been put into groups with children from year 1, and will be working with year 1 and FS staff across the Infant building. Aside from being the safest option for the children (spreading the bubbles as far apart as possible, each having access to their own toilets etc), this will allow the children to get to know the other staff members before they join year 1. Taking this into account, the themes and books that we will be using for our planning this half term will be the same as those used in key stage 1, but the activities that we plan will be different.
We are all really looking forward to this next step. I hope that you all continue to stay safe and take care and we can’t wait to see you all again, whenever that may be. Please click on the links below for the weekly overview and some printable resources that you may wish to use.
Sun Safe School
We are proud to be a Sun Safe School and even though the children haven’t been in school in recent weeks, we are still working towards this year’s accreditation. Mrs James recently sent some documents via our ClassDojo School Story – it is really important that parents have a read through these as part of our accreditation. This includes a letter from Mrs James, the school’s Sun Safe Policy and a booklet for parents provided by the charity Skcin.
In FS2 we have also planned a Sun Safe poster activity in our tasks this week, and included links to the Sun Safe Song and Story for you to share with the children.
Above is a link to the whole school prayer corner. In here you will find many resources to support prayer and spirituality at home.
Phonics Teaching and Learning
We have had lots of parents asking for more information and activities for teaching phonics and early reading at home. I have produced a document which gives some ideas about how you could support phonics at home. None of these activities are compulsory! The best thing that you can do to support reading is to READ TO YOUR CHILD. But if you do want to find out more about activities that you can do, please take a look at the link below.
